Selling
Customers on a sale
How to find or add a customer and put them on a sale, how a loyalty tag or a bank card can recognise them, and what the till remembers.
You can put a customer on a sale, so the till knows who bought what and how often they come. This works when your till has a Customer box on the sale screen, or a Customer button among the action buttons.
Put a customer on the sale
- In the customer box, start typing in Find customer by name or phone.
- Tap the right name in the list. It shows on the sale with their visit, for example "3rd visit".
- To take them off again, press Remove.
To add someone new, press New, type their name and press Add. They are added and put on the sale at once.
The customer stays on the ticket when you hold it on a tab, and goes with the sale when it is paid.
Recognise a customer by a tag
Some shops give regulars an NFC tag, such as a key fob or a sticker. If your till has a Tap tag button:
- Press Tap tag. The till says Waiting for the tag…
- Ask the customer to hold their tag to the terminal.
- A known tag puts the customer on the sale. An unknown one opens New, so you can type a name and link the tag.
Bank cards are not read here, only tags.
Recognise a customer by their bank card
A manager or owner can switch on Recognise customers under Settings on a device. The customer then taps their card once to be recognised before the same card pays. If the terminal shows nothing, press Skip, take payment.
After a card payment, the till may say the card is not linked to a customer yet. Type a name, or search, and press Add and link, or Link to an existing customer. Next time that card is recognised.
This is off by default, because it has not yet worked reliably on every terminal.
What the till remembers
A name, how many visits, and the linked tags and cards. Customers are shared by every till in the shop. There is no customer list to browse or edit in the builder yet.
