Take a payment

How to take card, Swish, cash and payment-link payments on the till, and what to do when a payment fails.

Ring up the products, then pay from the payment buttons. Card, Swish and the other app payments all run on the card terminal's own screen, so the till has one Pay on terminal button for all of them. Cash and payment links are handled on the till itself.

A shift must be open before you can take payments. If the till says Open a shift first, go to the Shift screen and press Open shift.

Card, Swish and other apps

  1. Press Pay on terminal. The small icons on the button show what the terminal takes, such as card, Swish or Klarna.
  2. The till shows Waiting for terminal, then Customer paying. Ask the customer to follow the terminal.
  3. When the payment is through, the till shows Paid and the receipt choices. See Receipts.

Swish is shown as a QR on the terminal's screen. If the shop has more than one terminal, the line under the button says which one gets the payment: press change to pick another.

Cash

  1. Press Cash. The till shows what to take. If the total was rounded, it says Rounded from and the exact amount.
  2. Press the amount the customer handed over, or type it under Other amount and press Tender.
  3. The till shows the Change to give back.

Cash works even when the till is offline. The sale is saved on the till and sent when the connection is back.

For phone orders, deposits or a customer who pays later:

  1. Press Pay link / QR and choose how long the link stays open: 1 hour, 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days.
  2. Press Show the QR and the link. The customer scans the QR, or you text, email or copy the link.
  3. Wait for the payment, or press Next customer · this one pays later. Open links are listed under Reports, Payment links.

When a payment does not go through

The till says Declined (the card or app said no), Cancelled or Not paid. Nothing was charged. Press Try again, or Back to sale to choose another way to pay. If the customer insists they paid, do not take the money twice: check Payment problems.

Card payments need the till online and a terminal that answers. If the button is crossed out, the line above it says why.
