Devices and installing the till

Which devices the till runs on, how to install it on the home screen, and how several devices work together.

The till runs in the web browser, at your shop's own address (for example bakery-sodermalm.getpos.ai). Any tablet, phone or computer with a modern browser works: an iPad, an Android tablet, a phone or a laptop. There is nothing to download from an app store.

Install it on the home screen

Installed, the till opens full screen like an app, with your shop's name and icon, and stays signed in to your till.

  1. Open your till's address in the browser on the device.
  2. Press Install on this device. You find it on the PIN screen and under Settings.
  3. On an iPad or iPhone, tap Share in Safari, then Add to Home Screen and Add. On Android or a computer, choose Install app or Add to Home screen in the browser menu.
  4. From now on, open the till from the home screen.

Several devices in one shop

Open the same address on every device. They all run the same till: the same products, the same staff and the same sales. A few things are chosen per device, under Settings:

  • which card terminal takes this device's payments
  • which printers it uses
  • the language on this device

A phone or a small tablet gets a layout made for its size. You can arrange it yourself in the builder with Make a phone layout.

Card terminals are separate

The till does not take cards itself. Payments go to a card terminal, or to a phone with the CheckoutX app, which can take payments sent from any till in your shop. See Connect a card terminal.

New versions

When you publish a new version in the builder, the devices pick it up the next time the till loads. If a device still shows the old version, reload the page or close and open the app.

When the connection drops

The till keeps working for cash sales and sends them to the server when it is back online. Card payments need the terminal online. A device must have been online and signed in once before it can work offline. See The till is offline.

Keep it locked

Tap Lock on the till to hand it over, and set Lock the till when nobody touches it under Staff in the builder. See Staff and PINs.
