Open price

Let the cashier type the price each time, for things like gift cards, repairs or loose items without a fixed price.

An open-price product has no price of its own. Every time the cashier taps it, the till asks for the amount, and each one becomes its own line on the order.

Use it for things that cost something different each time: a gift card, a repair, a haircut extra, or "various" in a small shop.

How to set it up

  1. Open the product under Products, or press Add product.
  2. Under Price, choose Open price.
  3. Pick the right VAT rate. The amount the cashier types includes VAT.
  4. Save and publish.

An open-price product cannot have sizes or a campaign price, and the till does not ask its choices.

On the till

  1. The button shows Open amount instead of a price.
  2. Tap it. A box asks for the Amount.
  3. Type the amount and press Add. A new line goes on the order.

Tap it again for the next amount: each tap is a separate line, and the till adds them up. That keeps every amount visible on the receipt.

If your till has a number pad with an Open price mode, typing an amount there and confirming adds it as a line under your open-price product. Whether a cashier may type a price there can depend on their role: see Roles and permissions.

Good to know

  • Guests cannot order open-price products from their phones. The guest menu only shows products with a fixed price above zero.
  • Sales of the open-price product count towards that product in your sales figures.
