Sell by weight
Price a product per kilogram, litre or metre and let the cashier type how much, for loose sweets, deli, coffee beans or fabric.
A product sold by weight has a price per kilogram, litre or metre. The cashier types how much, the till works out the price, and the line shows the weight.
How to set it up
- Open the product under Products.
- Under Price, choose By weight.
- Under Sold per, pick Kilogram (kg), Litre (l) or Metre (m).
- Type the price per unit with VAT included, and pick the VAT rate.
- Save and publish.
A product sold by weight cannot have sizes, and the till does not ask its choices. Make a separate product for each kind, such as "Pick and mix" and "Chocolate pralines".
On the till
- The button shows the price per unit, such as "189,00 kr/kg".
- Tap it, or scan its barcode. A box asks for the weight or amount.
- Type the weight with a decimal comma, for example 0,420 for 420 grams. The till shows what it comes to.
- Press the add button, which shows the price. One line goes on the order.
The line carries the weight in its name, for example "Pick and mix 0,420 kg × 189,00/kg", so the receipt and the kitchen ticket show it too. The price is rounded to whole öre or cents.
Each weighing is its own line. Weigh a second bag and it becomes a second line.
Good to know
- The till does not read a scale by itself: the cashier types the weight shown on the scale.
- A campaign price works on by-weight products too: it lowers the price per unit at the times you choose. See Campaign prices.
- Guests cannot order by-weight products from their phones.
