Open tabs and tables

Hold a ticket when the guest pays later: on a table, or on a tab with a name. Pick it up again to add more, then pay as usual. Paying closes the tab.

Hold a ticket

1. Ring up the items, then press Hold at the top of the ticket.
2. If your till has tables, tap the table. Otherwise type a name, such as "Anna" or "Window", in the box (Table or customer).
3. Press Hold. The ticket is empty and ready for the next guest.

If the shop sends bongs when a ticket is parked, the kitchen gets the items now. See Kitchen tickets.

Pick a ticket up again

• With a Tabs screen: open it and press Open on the tab.
• With a floor of tables: open Tabs and tap the table. A table with a ticket shows its total, how many items and the time.
• Without either, press Held at the top of the ticket and tap the one you want. The ticket on screen must be held or cleared first.

Add items, hold it again, or pay. Discard throws a held ticket away, so only use it for a ticket nobody will pay.

Tables

When the owner has switched on Table service under Features, the Tabs screen shows the floor, one tile per table, grouped in zones. Tap a free table to seat it: what you ring up next is held there. Tap a taken table to pick up its ticket. To move a ticket, pick it up, press Hold and tap another free table.

Good to know

• Held tickets are kept on the device they were held on. Another tablet does not see them, so pick a ticket up on the same device. Do not clear the browser's data on a till with open tabs.
• To let a table pay separately, pick up the ticket and use Split a payment.

An open tab on a card

In some shops the owner allows an Open tab button among the payment buttons, for chosen categories (under Rules, Open tabs). It reserves the ticket's total on the guest's card now. The tab then waits on the Tabs screen as "Pre-auth" with the amount. Press Capture to charge it. Capture takes the amount reserved, so ring up everything before you open the tab.
