When something goes wrong

The receipt or kitchen printer does not print

Checks, in order, when a receipt, a kitchen ticket or a Z report does not come out of the printer.

When nothing comes out of the printer, the sale itself is still done: a printer problem never stops a payment. Work through these checks, then reprint what you missed.

1. Is the till online?

Printing goes over the internet. If the till says Offline, it shows Offline: the printer could not be reached. Print again once the connection is back. See When the till is offline.

2. Is the printer on and ready?

  • Check that it is switched on and has power.
  • Check the paper roll. A FinPrinter takes 80 mm paper.
  • A FinPrinter needs its network connection. A terminal with a built-in printer needs to be on and connected, like for card payments.

3. Is a printer chosen on this device?

Go to Settings and look at Printers. Each job (Receipt, and the kitchen bongs) has a printer chosen for this device. Pick the right one, then press Test print.

  • If the till shows the ticket on screen with Simulated printer, nothing was sent to paper. That happens on a demo setup without a real printer.
  • If it says there is no printer in this store yet, register one: a FinPrinter with the serial number on its back, or a terminal with a built-in printer with the code on its screen. A manager or the owner does this from Register a printer.

When the choices work, a manager or the owner can press Use for every till so every device in the shop prints the same way.

Without a kitchen printer, the kitchen ticket shows on the till's screen instead.

4. Reprint what you missed

  • A receipt: go to Reports, open the sale in Transactions and press Print receipt. You can also show it as a Link / QR.
  • A Z report: open it from Reports and press Print ticket, or Print page.

Still not printing?

Ask the assistant in Help. It can check your devices and draft a support ticket. See Get help and support.
