Money and payouts
Questions about money, staff and reports
Short answers about payouts, fees, Z reports, cash, refunds and staff PINs.
When is card money paid into my bank account?
Card payments are handled by Surfboard Payments, and they pay out to the bank account on your agreement. How often depends on that agreement. Ask the assistant in Help: it can look up your own payouts. See Payouts.
What do card payments cost?
The card fees are the ones you agreed when you signed with Surfboard Payments. They can differ from one business to another, so ask the assistant in Help or support to check yours.
Why does my payout not match the Z report?
The Z report covers one shift on the till. A payout covers card payments once they have settled, with fees taken off, and cash is never part of it. The assistant in Help can show which sales are in a payout.
Can I change a Z report after closing the shift?
No. A Z report is locked on the server when the shift closes, and its numbers never change. A mistake found later is put right with a refund, which lands in the next shift.
The cash count was off. What now?
The Z report shows the difference as Variance (over) or Variance (short). It stays on the report. Check Transactions for cash sales and refunds you did not expect. See Cash and the cash drawer.
How do I get my sales into my accounting?
On Reports, press Export CSV for the orders on the till, or use the CSV link next to a Z report for one shift. See Find a sale in Transactions.
Someone forgot their PIN. Can I see it?
No, nobody can read a PIN back. In the builder under Staff, press Change PIN next to their name and give them a new one.
A cashier is asked for a manager PIN. Why?
Your rules say that action needs a manager. A manager types their PIN and the cashier stays signed in. You can change who may do what in Rules. See Roles and permissions.
Was this payment charged?
Open the sale in Transactions and press Check with Surfboard, or ask the assistant in Help. Never charge again before you know. See A payment failed or seems stuck.
