Self checkout and the pickup screen

A self checkout is a screen in the shop, such as a tablet on a stand, where guests choose from your menu and pay by card themselves. The paid order prints the bong and shows on every till, the same way a QR order does. The pickup screen is a TV by the counter that shows which order numbers are being made and which are ready.

Set it up (owner)

1. In the builder, open Features, How you serve, and switch on Self checkout. For the TV, switch on Order numbers and Pickup screen too.
2. Save and publish.
3. Check what guests can order: on each product under Products, Where it is sold, tick Guests ordering themselves. The self checkout shows the same products as the QR menu, and only those with a fixed price above zero. Products with Goes well with are offered right after one goes in the order.

Turn a device into a self checkout (manager)

1. Open the till on the device that will stand in the shop and sign in as a manager or owner.
2. Go to Settings, Self checkout, Use this device.
3. Give the screen a name and pick the terminal it pays on, then press Start self checkout. The device leaves the till and shows the start screen.

How the guest pays depends on the terminal you pick:

• A terminal of its own (SurfMini, SurfTouch, SurfPad and the like): the order goes to the terminal and the guest pays there. Put the terminal next to the screen.
• CheckoutX on the same phone or tablet: each payment opens CheckoutX on the screen and the guest taps their card on the device itself. If CheckoutX runs on another phone, tick CheckoutX runs on another phone and the order goes to that phone instead.

To lock the device to the screen so guests cannot leave it, use the device's own kiosk setting as well.

What the guest does

1. Chooses Eat here or Take away if the shop asks, and their language.
2. Taps products and choices. Suggestions show up under Goes well with.
3. Presses Pay and pays by card or phone.
4. Sees Paid. Thank you! and their number, and can take a receipt on paper or on their phone.

An order left half way is cleared after a while without a touch. The screen asks Still there? first.

The pickup screen

Open it on a TV or a screen by the counter: Settings, Pickup screen, Open the pickup screen. It shows numbers under Being made and Ready, and nothing else. It works with orders from the till, the QR code and the self checkout, as long as they have a number.

On the till, the Orders button on the side lists every paid order with a number. Press Ready when it is done: the number moves to Ready on the TV. Press Picked up when the guest has it, and the number leaves the screen. A ready number also leaves by itself after ten minutes.

Leave self checkout (manager)

Hold the top left corner of the self checkout screen for three seconds, type a manager's PIN and press the tick. The device opens as the till again, signed in as that manager. A manager can also unpair a screen from any till under Settings, Self checkout, Unpair.

At least one till must be open and signed in for the bong to print: it picks up new self checkout orders every few seconds, as it does with QR orders.
